SANGHA ACTIVITIES
"Sangha" is a Pali word for the community of committed practitioners. Bringing
our practices of non-harming, non-judgmental awareness, kindness and compassion
to ourselves and our relationships is an important part of the practice.
The sangha gives us the opportunity and support to cultivate these qualities.
Current sangha activities include: Book-Study/Practice Discussion Group This is a peer-led book/practice discussion group that meets Sunday afternoons every four to six weeks. Participants discuss Buddhist concepts encountered in the reading and how they apply to practice in daily life. The group is reading The Sound of Silence, by Ajahn Sumedho Next Meeting: December 2 Because these discussions involve the application of the readings to daily life practice, this group is more appropriate for people who have already learned the basics and are practicing them off the cushion as well as on. But everyone is welcome. For directions or for information call Helen Roehlke at (573) 446-0232 or E-mail: helenj-at-tranquility.net. Show Me Dharma Support: Show Me Dharma Support is a support network for people in our meditation community. Support is available through this network for sangha members during times of transition or crisis. Support offered includes meals, transportation, shopping, household chores, outdoor maintenance chores, emergency child care, and home visits. As we know from our dharma practice, the giving and receiving of service can be a gift both for the receiver and the provider. To request support or to offer service, please contact Tonda March at 443-0214 or tmarchare-at-gmail.com, Barb Clarke at 443-0362, Becky DeGraaf (contact in person) or Terry Furstenau at (660) 248-1770. We encourage everyone in our meditation community to ask for support when needed.
For further information about support offered, please see
